A sick muse- Needed ONE NURSE (or doctor)

“Billy Bob is not my name,” BB glared as they neared the food. He should have introduced himself as Ryu Ryuzaki.

Once they reached the food he looked over some of the labels and brands questions why there were so many different types over one type of food item. “Isn’t it chicken noodle soup that one eats when they are ill? And yes, drinks are pretty cheap here..unless you intend to buy alcohol. That tends to be a bit more expensive.”

“I suppose so,” Ryu said with a shrug. He found the canned food aisle and looked at their soup selection. “Progresso… Or Campbell’s? Progresso…. Campbell’s….?” He looked through the selection before resting his hand on the blue labelled soup can. “This one… might do,” he said. It read ‘Homestyle’ on it. “Would you like something?” the ill man asked.

Ryu had no intention of purchasing alcohol. He would much rather have water or lemonade than liquor or champagne. Wine was nice at times, though.

A sick muse- Needed ONE NURSE (or doctor)

“Voyeur? Ha” BB barked out a loud sharp laugh. The idea of that was too ludicrous  for him to just ignore or simply let pass over. He couldn’t help but laugh. “Anyways, you are right about consciousness and living is a gift but it is one that often gets wasted or,” He glanced at a couple of teenagers standing near them laughing over something he couldn’t hear. One was meant to live for many years while the other..only had hours left.”get’s taken away too soon.”

He looked away the teens and back to Ryu as they neared the building. Nothing he could do anything about it, everyone’s time runs out and Death always gets what it wants. Something I learned to accept long ago. ”I saw someone who looked in need, as being the nice guy that I am I decided to see if I can help,” He shrugged while smirking. “Also I had nothing better to do with my time today.”

It was also because he was curious about the one next to him. BB knew he wasn’t from around him and was curious at to who (and possibly what) he was. It was turning into quite a puzzle.

Ryu laughed. “Yes, because the best way to make acquaintances is through death threats and boredom.” At last, they were at the pharmacy’s door. It slide open, enveloping the two in cool, conditioned air. Ryu’s eyes snapped down in annoyance, and a small snarl curled at one side of his face. It felt good, but with this fever it made him feel even more sickly. “The counter should be in the back. We’ll find medical supplies there,” Ryu guessed. He motioned for the man to follow, making his way through the aisle.

He stopped at the aspirin, prices higher than normal, as he selected one and began looking over it. “Wish I could stomach something,” he said as he read the directions. He sighed. “Aren’t drinks here cheap?” he asked, looking over towards the cashier counter. “If so… maybe I should try eating again.” With a quiet huff he looked at another bottle before taking it and walking away from the area, back to the food section.

“Well, Billy Bob,” he said with a smirk, “would you like to help me pick out some soup?” Intentionally teasing him, his tired eyes watched for a reaction. BB seemed like an interesting guy. It was either going to roll off his shoulder or bring something entertaining.

“Heartache is a painful ordeal and a constant companion,” Akari wants to say but doesn’t. Instead she says, “What I’ve learned about pain is that everyone has it. Heartache is nothing compared to some of the things that life hides. As Bukowski says, ‘We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us.’” She laughs when he mentions her sister. “Blayde would know more about pain than I do. I romanticize everything, but you can’t ask her to think like that, her brain just doesn’t work that way. She doesn’t have any hobbies.” She falls silent, unsure what to say about her sister. “She’s only happy when she’s beating up bad guys,” Akari says finally, smiling sheepishly and shrugging with one shoulder.

Ryu sighed. “That is… a dark life indeed….” He remained quiet for a moment, leading Akari to the crosswalk and then across the street. Funny how paths crossed. “It is good for a man to be pleased in his work, but when work becomes the only meaning of your life it is then when Death becomes the only lover you’ll have.” Death, an always elusive lover for the raven haired one. The two always danced a complex dance while neither of them touched. “I suppose it’s the same for her,” he mused to himself.

“You know, it’s funny how love can completely invert one’s life. Or I may have ended up as your sister. A smile and a gentle hand can make pain’s reminder heal and can open your eyes to new possibilities. In fact, it is often pain which blinds one and binds them, and only kindness can loosen those chains.” He sighed. “Perhaps Ms. Blayde will be found by her moon and may see more than just darkness someday. Perhaps someday her eyes will be opened to the stars above.”

“No, she doesn’t think like that,” Akari laughs at the thought of Blayde doing that. “I’m the twin who sets people up like that. She probably thought it’d be funny to make us walk. She doesn’t have romance on the brain like I do.”

Ryu grinned. “Perhaps all those ideas from your novels are wooing you to dangerous ground, Akari. Heart ache is a painful ordeal,” Ryu noted with a laugh. “Though, I suppose song does me no better. Say, does your sister have any hobbies that doesn’t involve work? She seems to be a bit rigid.”

“Oh.” Her first thought is how cute his comparison is (she hadn’t even thought of ducklings, just instantly went to vampires). Then she realizes that he’s in love with a woman who is also his mother figure. She decides not to judge, though, not having heard the whole story, and changes the subject when she notices how uncomfortable he looks. “How close are we to the hotel? I’d bet you my left arm that Blayde is already there.”

His eyes search the area, seeing a cross walk nearby. “I’d say about… seven minutes?” he guessed. “We have to cross two streets,” he informed her. He shook his head, the thought Akari’s sister waiting for them on his mind. “Did she set us up?” he asked, a small laugh escaping his lips. The thought was a bit frightening. A bounty hunter playing match-maker. Oh, that was a story.
